B.L.A.C.K. Institute branding (2016)
Client: University of Central Florida B.L.A.C.K. Institute
The Building Leaders and Connecting Knights (B.L.A.C.K.) Institute at UCF offers opportunities for black students at UCF to benefit from mentorship, leadership, dialogues, and experiential activities that reflect their cultural identity. This branding was inspired Nguzo Saba, or the the seven principles of Kwanzaa. The intertwined mark is the Umoja symbol, representing unity; a key tenet of this organization’s goals. The secondary mark is an African lion with a septagon mane. Each point of the mane represents one of the seven Kwanzaa principles, and the lion itself represents stately pride in African ancestry.
